Introduction

Deena De Vries-Jones is an expert in Facilitation, Interpersonal Skills and Leadership Development.  Her background includes over twenty years experience in HR and many years coaching and facilitating individuals and groups.

Deena has a positive and engaging style that allows her to quickly establish rapport and trust within people.  This creates an easy platform when Deena works with individuals or teams, generating an open, supportive and sharing environment that allows people to be themselves and see the many strengths they possess.  This empowers people to stretch to their full potential as both individuals and team members.

Deena’s experience as a professional facilitator began twelve years ago with the design, development and delivery of Unilever’s core competencies. A program that was delivered to approximatly 12,000 employees based in the UK.  Subsequently, Deena worked with Unilever on a number of Change Management programs.   This led to Deena designing and delivering a tailored change management program for Lipton Ltd, a company of Unilever.  Liptons offices are predominantly in Europe, Asia and Africa, and they where starting a radical change process resulting in a 50% reduction in the workforce across the globe. This involved working with individuals at all levels – from Board to individual tea blenders in the local countries. This experience has also given Deena great insights into harmonising cultural diversity and managing team effectiveness in varied and diverse workplaces under difficult situations.

Ten years ago Deena was asked to act as a Leadership Development coach and facilitator for Unilever’s Global Supply Chain Company.  Her specialist role was to help senior leaders who have been promoted from regional roles to global roles, increase their interpersonal, influencing and communication skills leading to increased personal effectiveness both as individuals and as global team leaders.  Deena completed this through facilitated team workshops and one to one coaching with the leaders to ensure that the teams had direction, cohesion and collaboration.

Since leaving Unilever Deena has been involved with various disciplines, including program design, delivery, facilitation and she continues to coach people from senior levels of organisations.

Some of her more recent achievements consist of working for a large global manufacturer/retailer where she co-designed and facilitates a global leadership development/personal effectiveness weeklong event for middle management employees getting ready to be promoted to a senior role.  She has also coached and facilitated a program for a large communications company’s executives – challenging them to increase their personal effectiveness within both the organisation and their teams.  She has additionally designed and delivers a week long mini-MBA strategic business course as well as a leadership skills workshop for a global FCMG company for upcoming senior managers improving their self-awareness and gaining a better understanding of their impact on others.  Most recently Deena has co-designed and facilitated a program for referees to receive a formal coaching qualification.
